Florida had the highest concentration of property purchased by international buyers of any state, the report found. A recent report by Condo Vultures credited international buyers with enabling South Florida to sell 91 percent of the nearly 49,000 unites built during the boom. Brazilian buyers have been a particularly strong force in Miami.
For international buyers in the United State, 31 percent of all international sales in 2011 came from Florida. Twenty-seven percent of buyers viewed U.S. real estate as a profitable investment, especially Canadians who accounted for 23 percent of all foreign buyers. In fact, 8 percent of Florida resales in 2010 were to Canadians.
